About Us

Retread is a circular uniform rehoming platform created by Assembled Threads as part of a national project funded through the Seamless Clothing Textiles Product Stewardship Scheme. Our goal? To find new life for over 9,379 industrial workwear garments—and make them available free of charge to First Nations organisations, charities, and social enterprises across Australia.

At Assembled Threads, our mission is to redefine how uniforms are made, worn, and repurposed—putting people and planet first at every stage. We are an award-winning social enterprise based in North Melbourne, delivering ethically made, high-quality uniforms while creating jobs and accredited training for women from refugee and migrant backgrounds.

Sustainability is at the heart of Retread. These garments may be surplus to one supply chain—but they are perfectly usable, high-quality industrial workwear that can make a meaningful difference to others. We believe landfill should never be the default.

Through Retread, we collect, sort, debrand, and responsibly redistribute uniforms to communities who need them—backed by partnerships with industry leaders like Blackwoods, Textile Recyclers Australia, Gerrbik Laundry, and Wallara.

Together, we’re proving that slow-moving stock can spark fast-moving impact.
